A project estimated at $1 billion, Straub anticipates funding it in phases through philanthropy, bonds, and its own assets. In addition to a renovated hospital and a 1,650-space parking garage, a new medical facility will be built as part of the project, which will be built in four phases.
Phase one focuses on expanding the garage; Phase two focuses on the construction of the new medical facility; Phase three focuses on improving the outdoor space, and Phase four focuses on renovating the existing hospital.
There will be 760,000 square feet available on campus once the project is completed. Currently, the medical center occupies 260,000 square feet. Straub aims to reduce traffic and noise by building elevated sidewalks and paths between buildings.
