This fall, the Chaplaincy is planning to open new 3,500 square-foot facilities inside Belmont Park’s Gate 6 area, which will feature a chapel that can be used for multiple purposes, office space for the chaplaincy staff, and classroom space.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, David O’Rourke, president and CEO of NYRA, and Ramon Dominguez, a retired horseman who currently serves as the Chaplain of the NYRA, participated.
Founder and principal of the Beechwood Organization and Thoroughbred owner, Michael Dubb donated materials for the building as well.
Many parties provided critical funding to the project, including Lisa and Kenny Trout of Win-Star Farm, Kristine and Chris Kay, Marylou Whitney and her late husband John Hendrickson, and the estate of Dolores Ochota.
A project like this is a dream come true for the chaplaincy and the people it serves, Dominguez said. She thanks all those who made it a reality.
