The new building will have eight stations across the township, similar to the Perth Road Station that opened in 2018. The station will take the place of the current Sunbury Station 8 and the former Burnt Hills Station 9. Because of its geographic significance to future growth in the Township’s east end, the new fire station will ensure that the fire service is well equipped to meet the needs of current residents and those who move into new homes in the area.
Bourgon Construction is constructing the new Fire-hall, which is estimated to cost $3.3 million. Three drive-through truck bays & a variety of emergency response equipment will be located in this 7,600 sq ft single-story facility. Furthermore, Station 8 will have dedicated training areas and offices for administrative staff and Platoon Chiefs.
The new facility is expected to be completed and ready for active service by late 2022. Until that time, Station 8 crews will continue to operate out of the Storrington Centre at 3910 Battersea Rd.
